Comes in a digi-wallet package with a glass-pressed, not burned, disc. Printed and pressed at Sooper Dooper in Madison, WI, with layout designed by Jeremiah Nelson.
Written while on tour in October 2008, in an apartment above the Purple Fiddle in Thomas, West Virginia. After a couple of PBR's, this song just flowed right out.
lyrics
Keep your eyes on the Mississippi River,
ain't no river gonna tell you any lies.
Forget about that girl down on Jeni Street,
she'll tell 'em while she looks right in your eyes.
Don't sing your songs for the half-drunk students,
they're too busy singing songs about themselves.
Just sing your songs for the broken people,
they're just trying to put some groceries on their shelves.
Take a ride up the St. Lawrence River,
I'll bet Montreal is shining just as bright.
Its getting darker now, feeling the winter coming,
she'll be cold but she can't have your light.
I ain't talking about that time,
that we went down to Jackson Hole,
and camped among the bears.
I ain't talking to you until,
its over and done,
and there is nothing left there.
All them women, they just tell you that they miss you,
if you want to keep them you can't leave their site.
They'll tell you, "boy, don't you listen to the river,
all the promises the river makes are lies."
I ain't talking about that time,
that we went down to Kansas,
and you let down all your hair.
I ain't talking to you until,
its over and done,
and there is nothing left there.
I ain't poking 'round for someone else,
to fix my problems,
I ain't got a problem with myself.
I ain't waiting 'round for you,
to talk it over,
maybe some day you'll be back with someone else.

One of the more prolific thirty-something songwriters working in the Folk/Americana genre today, John Statz has released
nine studio albums and performed all over North America and Europe over the course of his fourteen-year career. The Boston Globe has called John’s music "electric, urgent folk; aching, sweet country-rock"...more
Jeffrey Martin is a terrific writer, and "Long Gone Now" is one of my absolute favorite songs of 2017. The whole album is excellent, get it. John Statz
The Wild has been on repeat for me all autumn, so good! Kris is a songwriter I've looked up to for a long time, and she is only getting better. John Statz
Not metal. Just really good. Similar to William Elliott Whitmore. Those that listen to lyrics and know what it's like to live in a post-industrial town can really relate. Drugs
